NVL LADIES HEAD COACH

James Kemp

I have been involved in Volleyball for over 28-years and it’s so exciting to finally be part of a club with a real passion, desire and hunger for success!

As a coach I have been fortunate enough to have had so many quality players to work with – none more so than right now! I have always immersed myself within the sport and in particular with elite level coaches. This has helped me to develop my own philosophy and style of play, which my players buy into wholeheartedly.

My successes to date include being awarded National Children’s Coach of the Year in 2011, guiding my National League Ladies to the National Shield Final in 2012, and most recently coaching both Men’s and Ladies squads to their respective National League titles in 2016.

My goals and ambitions are high for New Forest Volleyball and I look forward to many years of success for this very unique club!

Club Director & Club Secretary

Jo Ankers

Jo arrived at NFV as a parent to one of our Junior Girls and the club soon became aware of her exceptional talents for management. The club was delighted when Jo came on board a few years ago to look at ways of marketing the club to increase our brand. Since that initial role, Jo is now one of our Club Directors and is a key member of our day-to-day staff. Jo is extremely passionate about young people in sport and this remains a key focus of hers in ensuring our provision for our satellite clubs and academy squads is second to none.

Club Director & Head of Performance

Simon Golding

I started playing volleyball at university in 1985 – when the ball was white, you could block the serves (yes, honestly!), the sets were to 15 points (not 25) and you could only score a point when your team was serving. Very quickly I decided I wanted volleyball to be my main sport and in a short space of time I made my way into the top division of English volleyball with Capital City Spikers and a place on the Great Britain students team at the 1991 Universiade in Sheffield – the pinnacle of my indoor playing career.

In beach volleyball I was fortunate to play alongside some superb players, rising to No.2 in the UK rankings with both Clayton Lucas and Australian World Tour player Tristan Boyd. i won 3 Grand Prix events and finished runner-up in the British Championships in 2000. I have been coaching volleyball since 1990 and during that time I coached the Great Britain women’s beach volleyball team on the World Tour. My team of Audrey Cooper and Mo Glover went on to compete in the Atlanta Olympics in 1996. Indoors I have been a player coach in National League volleyball since 1993 and have coached IBB Polonia, Solent and Wessex in the top division, winning the National Cup with Wessex in 2001.

I have now turned my focus to junior coaching with New Forest and also coaching the senior men’s team in Division 2 NVL. Since 2001, I have been working as a television sports commentator, where I regularly commentate on international volleyball.

I began playing volleyball at university in 1990, where I played in 2 National student finals with the West Sussex Institute team. I continued to play Volleyball alongside my PE teaching career, which eventually took my work to Ballard School for many years. I have played National League volleyball for only one club, Team Solent. I was with the team from 1994 and played until I retired from NVL back in 2015, during which time I played in the National Shield final.

In addition to my time as a player, I have also been a team manager to several junior squads over the years and began working in that role with New Forest in 2016.

Safeguarding Officer

Lucy Parvin

Lucy has been a keen supporter of NFV for many years and was often on the sidelines cheering our teams on in matches. So it was a no brainer when the club finally decided to ask her to join the management team. With over 15-years experience in Teaching, Lucy was only too happy to take on our Safeguarding Officer role. Since coming into post, Lucy has attended several courses/seminars and ensures all our players and staff are continuously safe to enjoy our wonderful sport of volleyball.
